Winemaker

A year of weather, judged one grape at a time.

Why the human is the point

A vintage is a year of weather with a person's signature at the bottom. The winemaker gambles on when to pick, how long to wait, and what to do when the rain comes anyway, decisions no two years repeat. The result is drinkable weather, autobiography in a bottle. Perfect consistency is a factory's virtue. A vintage is interesting precisely because a human chose, and the year argued back.
