Why the human is the point
A birth is not a transaction. It is a long night of small decisions, of a hand on a shoulder, of a voice that has been in this room a thousand times before. The midwife carries the calm of the room. She reads breath and skin and mood. She stays. Whatever else machines can measure, they cannot stay with you like this. This is the work of being present to another life at the moment it begins, and it will always belong to a person.
