Legal and privacy
Who is behind this, and what we know about you.
An atlas that argues for people should be able to tell you exactly which people are behind it. So here is the whole thing, in plain language: who publishes Humankept, what we collect, and how the links work.

A real person reads that inbox. If something on this site is wrong, that is the fastest way to get it fixed.
Where the site is hosted
Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States. Email is delivered by Resend, and nothing else runs on this site.
What we collect
Almost nothing, and never without you handing it over. There is no account to create, no profile, no login. We collect an email address in exactly three places, all of them a form you chose to fill in:
- The waitlist. Your email, so we can tell you what the atlas is doing. Consent is the basis, and you can withdraw it by writing to us.
- The contact form. Your name, email and message, so a person can write back.
- Atlas submissions. What you send us about a craft, a place or a person worth adding, so we can check it and consider it.
Those messages are delivered to our own inbox by Resend, which acts as our processor and does not use your data for anything else. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, we do not enrich it, and we do not build a profile out of it. We keep it as long as it is useful for the reason you sent it, and no longer.
You can ask us at any time what we hold, have it corrected, have it deleted, get a copy, or object to it. Write to contact@humankept.com and we will do it. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
Why there is no cookie banner
Because there are no tracking cookies to ask you about. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without third party cookies, without storing your IP address, and without anything that could follow you to another site. The visitor identifier it uses is an anonymous hash that is discarded after twenty four hours. We see that a page was read, not who read it.
The links, and the money
Every listing on this site points at a real organisation that really exists, at a page we opened and read. Nothing on this atlas is invented. If a link has gone stale or an offering has closed, tell us and we will fix it or take it down.
Outbound links carry a small tag saying the visit came from Humankept. That is attribution, not tracking: it tells the place at the other end that we sent someone, and it tells us the atlas is doing its job.
Today, not one of these links earns us anything. We intend to join affiliate programmes so the atlas can pay for itself, and when we do, this paragraph will say so, because it is generated from what the code actually does. What will not change: the link will always send you to the real place, and money will never decide who gets into the atlas.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any organisation listed here. We are pointing at them because we think they are worth your time.
The photographs
Every photograph on this site is a real photograph of real people, licensed from Pexels or Unsplash and hosted by us. Not one image here was generated by AI, and none ever will be. A site that argues for human hands cannot illustrate itself with a machine's idea of hands.
If you are the photographer or the subject of an image here and you would rather it came down, write to us and it comes down. No argument.
The words
The editorial, the structure and the design of Humankept belong to Altoria Digital. Quote us, link to us, argue with us, that is what it is for. Please do not lift the atlas wholesale.
Names, trademarks and offerings belonging to the organisations we link to remain theirs.
Questions about any of this go to contact@humankept.com. Or start somewhere better: the atlas.
