Why the human is the point

Cloth is so cheap and so machine-made that we forget it was once the slow work of a human at a loom. The weaver remembers: choosing the colors, throwing the shuttle, beating each row tight, hours for a hand's-width of cloth that holds a person's choices in its very structure. It is patience made visible, and it warms differently than the mill-made kind. Some things are worth the slowness of a hand that decided every thread.
