Perfumer
A person building a memory out of scent, one drop at a time, from a palette of a thousand smells.

Why the human is the point
A perfumer holds hundreds of raw materials in memory and composes with them the way a musician composes with notes: a top that flashes, a heart that blooms, a base that lingers for hours. It is invisible authorship, aimed straight at the oldest part of the brain, so that a scent can return you to a person or a summer decades gone. A machine can analyze a fragrance. It cannot decide what longing smells like. A person does, drop by drop, from imagination.
