Lampworker
A single flame, a rod of glass, and a pair of steady hands turning heat into something small and luminous.
Why the human is the point
A lampworker sits close to a flame no bigger than a candle grown fierce, and coaxes a plain glass rod into a bead, a bird, a tiny galaxy held in the palm. Everything happens in the wrist and the timing, the slow turn that keeps the glass moving so gravity never wins. Watch long enough and you notice the choices, this swirl and not that one, this exact moment to pull, and you realize you are watching a person think in molten color. Each piece cools with a maker's fingerprints in it, the small asymmetries that say a hand was here and cared. It is patience made visible, and it glows.
