Why the human is the point
There is a hush in the ultrasound room and then a shape appears on the screen, grey and shifting, and a person leans in to make sense of it. A sonographer works by feel and by knowing, gliding the probe until the picture resolves into something a family or a doctor can understand. They hold two things at once, the technical read and the human moment, because for the person on the table this is rarely just data. They choose their words with care, knowing a scan can carry good news or hard news, and either way it deserves a calm and honest voice. Every clear image is a small act of judgment, this angle over that one, this frame worth keeping. It is close, attentive work that someone chooses to get right for you.
