At the end of every argument, a person has to decide. The judge weighs the law against the human being in front of them, holds the process fair when feelings run hot, and takes responsibility for a ruling that changes a life. It is judgment in its purest, hardest form: reasoned, accountable, and impossible to fully automate, because justice is not only rules but mercy, context, and the weight of consequence. A formula can sort cases. Only a person can be answerable for the verdict.
