Welder
A steady hand joins two pieces of steel into one, and makes it hold.

Why the human is the point
A weld is a small act of trust you never see, two pieces of metal asked to become one and to stay that way under load for years. The welder reads the molten puddle in real time, feels the heat through the rod, and moves at exactly the pace the steel wants and no faster. Bridges, hulls, railings, the frame of the building you are sitting in, all of it holds because a person laid a clean bead and knew it was good. There is a particular calm in someone who can strike an arc, drop the hood, and lay down a line that will outlive them. That is the welder, patient and exact, quietly proud of joints that simply never fail.
