Why the human is the point
Good tiling is one of those crafts you only notice when it is done badly, because a great tiler makes it look inevitable. They set out the room by eye, comb the adhesive into an even bed, and place each tile so the lines run true and the joints breathe alike across the whole floor. Every cut around a pipe or a corner is a small decision made once and lived with for years. There is a quiet pride in stepping back from a finished wall where every edge sits flush and every joint lines up. The tiler is the person whose careful hour becomes a surface a family walks across every day without a second thought.
