Why the human is the point
A piano is a whole orchestra you play sitting down, and a pianist is the one deciding, note by note, how it breathes. The magic is in touch: the same key pressed a hundred ways gives a hundred colors, and a good player finds the one the music wants right now. You see it in the shoulders and the pedal foot, in the pause before a phrase, in the way a room leans in when someone sits down and simply begins. On a grand concert stage or a battered upright in a train station, the instrument waits for a person to bring it alive. That is the whole point of a pianist: a human choosing, in real time, exactly what to say and how gently to say it.
