Greengrocer

Behind a stall of colour, a greengrocer knows every crate by hand and passes you the best of the season.

Why the human is the point

A greengrocer is the person who stands between a field and your kitchen, and knows both ends by heart. They are up early choosing the produce, arranging the stall so the tomatoes glow and the greens look just picked, and they can tell you which pears are ready today and which to keep for the weekend. The real trade is in the talk across the crates: the recommendation, the recipe, the free extra apple for a child, the small daily welcome of a familiar face. Shopping here is less a transaction than a conversation about what is good right now, guided by someone who tastes and touches everything they sell. It is an ordinary, generous corner of a neighbourhood, kept warm by a person who genuinely wants you to eat well.
