Why the human is the point
Below the waterline is a world with its own weather, its own silence, and work that still has to get done by human hands. A commercial diver drops into it to harvest, to weld, to inspect and repair the hidden structures that hold a coastline's life together. It takes a rare mixture of calm and craft, slowing your breath, trusting your crew on the surface, keeping your head clear where a moment of panic is expensive. Up on the boat there is grit and camaraderie, wetsuits peeled half down, baskets of the day's catch, the sun finally warm on your face. This is a body meeting the sea on the sea's terms, doing the tangible, essential things that keep working harbours alive. There is deep pride in surfacing with the job done.
