Barber

Twenty minutes in a chair with someone who has known your head for years.

Why the human is the point

A barber's chair is one of the last places a stranger will touch you with care, ask how you've been, and mean it. They know your cowlick, your receding truth, the story you retell every third visit. Twenty unhurried minutes of being tended to by hands that have done this ten thousand times: that is not a haircut, it is upkeep for the whole person. The cut grows out in a month. The small ritual of being looked after is why you come back.
