Auctioneer

The person who turns a room of strangers into a single quickening pulse and finds the true price.

Why the human is the point

An auctioneer is part conductor, part storyteller, part lightning read of human nerve. Standing before a crowd, they hold a rhythm with voice and eye, catch the smallest nod or flick of a paddle, and coax the room upward one heartbeat at a time. Price is not printed here, it is discovered live, made by people wanting the same thing in the same minute, and the auctioneer is the one who keeps that current moving. They know when to slow down, when to tease, when to bring the gavel down before the spell breaks. It is theatre with real money on the line, and it only works because a person is in the room feeling exactly where everyone stands. Watch a great one and you see how much commerce is really about reading each other.
